Be creative!

For the 3 following assignments during week 8, week 9 and week 10, we are required to use the technique that we'd learnt so far to do whatever we like.

For the first image, I've used the effect of shadows and rotating the flying fish in the opposite direction.

For the second assignments, I focus more one how to deleting and adding image into the background.

For the third assignment, I've used the displacement technique and also the fire burning technique.

Lastly, just be creative with what you want to do. :)

Escape!

And there goes the last assignment of Digital Imaging...
We, students are required to design a poster with all the techniques that's we'd learnt.
For me, I've chosen to design an advertisement poster to promote a place for us, the hectic city human to escape from where we are, to where we wish.

And the ideal place to escape to, should probably stress free with lots of beautiful scenery. Therefore, Switzerland definitely is the best place to discover!

Technique used: Pen tool, image adjustment, outer glow, typography and free transform.

Final outcome:

Dearest city human, just keep calm and enjoy life cause we only live once! :)

Says M E O W !

For the second assignment, I've chosen my favourite actor, who is well known as the Cat Woman, Anne Hathaway. This project is to create a "Surrealistic" themed portrait.

The technique that I've used is typography which was taught in the last lesson. I've used different colour of fonts to differentiate the parts of the face features. I also used pen tool to fill in the skin part apart from the mask she worn.

There goes the cat woman in words. :D

Typography

This lesson is all about how to create a face feature by adding and wrapping the font.
Firstly, go to the Horizontal Type Tool, draw a text bar and type some words. You may choose whichever font type that you like but make sure the words can be seen clearly.
Rasterize the font layer and go to Edit > Transform > Wrap.

Final product.

Camouflage

Did you ever notice a chameleon turning into the same colour as the tree branch? Naw, it's hard to notice it because it has almost the same colour with the tree branch. So, here's another lesson that taught me how to displace a skin texture on a human being's face.

Firstly, put the skin texture on the human image and set the blending mode. Then you have to save a displacement image as a JPEG file. Then go to Filter > Distort > Displacement.

Tadddaaaaah! The final outcome!

Plastic Surgery?

So how could you change a human's face feature by using Photoshop?
Just use the Pen Tool to drag the part you want and then fill it with colour. Another option is the freeform pen tool. To adjust the points, go to pen tool > add anchor point tool. Lastly, set the opacity and get the effect that you like.

Hope you enjoy scribbling your own face? Hahaha just kidding... :D

HAUNTED house.....

Such a scary title right.....
I'm sure that some of us have watched horror movie before right? So how did the director create the horror effect to frighten off the audiences?

Follow the steps as shown below and you will get to know the tricks, and it's not scary at all......

  1. Copy a house onto the background. Use the polygonal lasso tool to crop off the house and mask it.
  2. Select Image > Adjustment > Match colour to take the background into the house.
  3. Select the source and layer. Then blend the colour well by adjusting the luminance, colour intensity and fade.
  4. Add in the ghost bride and select Screen for the blending mode.
  5. To make the ghost bride looks more glossy, create a new layer and select the gradient tool. Choose the radial gradient and black to white colour, inverse it. Again, change the blending mode to Screen.
THAT'S ALL! TAADDAAAAAAAHHH!!!!

That girl's hair is on FIRE?!

The third assignment is about how to do selection and masking.
So, do you ever think of burning someone's hair or even yourself's..........?? You can have a try!

There are two ways to add the fire image into the girl's hair:
For the first version:
  1. Drag the fire image into the girl image and set the blending mode to SCREEN to get rid off all the black sides.
  2. Unchain the link so that the image can move freely by remaining the mask layer. The mask layer will not be affected.
  3. Duplicate the whole layer and transform it to fix into the hair. You can go in the mask layer to adjust the opacity and erase the unwanted parts by using brush tool.
For the second version:
This is probably a better way because the fire image can only be shown on the hair part. The fire image is covered on the hair but not the person.
  1. As we can see, the blue colour is the predominant colour of the background. Use the Magic Wand Tool to select blue colour. You can add more on by holding the SHIFT key.
  2. Remember to unselected the Contiguous button to pick up more hairs at the trapping part. Then press Select > Inverse.
  3. To make the fire looks less sharpen, go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur.
  4. If the images are not in the right size, just unlink them and transform the image to fit it into another image. Duplicate the layer and repeat the previous step.

Version ONE

 Version TWO

Here's the before and after effect. :)

It's all about cloning.

What is cloning? Cloning is the process of producing similar populations of genetically identical individuals. Hahaha it sounds so biology......
Here's two types of cloning which I've learnt.

(A) Clone in :
Using the Clone Stamp Tool and define what to clone in order to clone something that you want. Hold the Option key and click on the nose part and let go the Option key. Clone it on a new area, then brush it across the area gently and you will get a clone in object.

(B) Clone out :
Select an empty area and clone it on the area painted with words, adjust the opacity to make it looks more realistic.

And lastly, how to make a long train?
  1. Go to Filter > Vanishing Point and define a perspective.
  2. Look for an area and adjust by pulling it up and down. Drag the selected area all the way back and drag it on the track.
  3. You can use the stamp tool or the Marquee Tool to clone it.
  4. For the Marquee Tool, hold the Option key to drag it down and Shift key to lock it on the perspective.

Hope you enjoy cloning. :)

First Lesson of Digital Imaging

Before entering into Taylor's University, I always wanted to learn how to master Photoshop. Therefore, I've chosen Digital Imaging as my elective subject. There goes my first lesson of learning Photoshop. :)

First thing that you should know before editing a photo is to reset your workspace by setting the width and height. Then insert an image by selecting the File button and choose open. An alternative way is to directly drag the image to the Photoshop icon.

So, how do we add an image into a background and make it looks real?
Here's the steps to create a realism :
  1. Copy and Paste the image on the background and change the size by selecting the Edit button > Free Transform. [ Command T ]
  2. Add a mask on the image. Use the Lasso tool to cut out the unwanted part.
  3. Use the brush tool to erase off the part that you want to hide it. The black colour is to hide and the white colour is to show. You can change the colour by pressing the "X" button. To change the brush size, just click on [ ] to make it smaller or enlarge it. This is a non destructive way simply because you can hide and review the image.
  4. Duplicate the layer to make a reflection, then Edit > Free Transform to adjust the size.
  5. Crop the masking image. Adjust the saturation of the image by selecting the Image > Adjustment > Hue/Saturation (Under the image layer) and adjust it to slightly darker.
  6. To create the water ripper effect, Filter > Distort > Ripples.
  7. Lastly, a little important thing to create realism is that you have to add a shadow by duplicating the image. Then Edit > Free Transform again to inverse the duplicated image and change the opacity.
This was my first attempt.

That's all for the first lesson. :)
